London Metropolitan University – Moorgate – Refurbishment
This project involved the general strip out and refurbishment of teaching rooms across three floors of a Grade II listed University building in central London. The works were urgently required to upgrade facilities for both students and staff prior to the start of the new academic term.
What we did
Working to an extremely tight schedule and in a building that contained asbestos, we decanted all floors, stripped out all finishes and carried out structural repairs to the fabric prior to undertaking the improvement works. As part of the work, all of the building services were upgraded to improve its energy rating and increase the efficiency of the site through enhanced heating regulation.
The refurbished floors contained:
- Ten A/V teaching rooms
- Seven glazed partition student interview rooms
- High specification student breakout-area created
- Bespoke joinery throughout in keeping with the listed status of the building
